First Annual Back Alley Mural Festival in Tequesta to be held on September 19-20, 2015
Tequesta, Fla. (September 10, 2015) — The first annual Back Alley Mural Festival is a collaborative, community event to be held at Gallery Square North in Tequesta on September 19-20, 2015. There will be more than 15 artists painting large-scale murals on outdoor facades, as well as a children’s outdoor painting area.
In celebration of our local artists and creative community spirit, this event is free and open to the public, all ages welcome. There will be local musicians performing, and refreshments during this rare opportunity to see muralists transform the alley between Good Shepherd Church and Gallery Square North.
The power of art in public spaces creates dialogue, connection and conversation…while encouraging local artists to rise to new and unique standards of artistic excellence.
The participating artists will be gathering for a workshop and demonstration by professional artist and muralist, Julie Silk Beaumont, on Friday, September 18th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the School of Art. The public is invited to watch as a sample mural is painted on the side of the building, located at 395 Seabrook Road in Tequesta.
Sponsored by the Lighthouse ArtCenter, Village Art Studios, Gallery Grille, Marie Antoinette’s, Lollie’s Designer Boutique, and L.E.T Group, URVISIBLE Inc., Original Elements, A White Penquin and Agape Healing Arts, artists will be awarded prizes for their murals on Sunday evening from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse ArtCenter Museum.
For more information on how to get involved with the festival, contact Cynthia Trone, Director of Education at the Lighthouse ArtCenter School of Art, email@example.com, (561) 748-8737.
