Thursdays
Plein Air - From Studies to Studio
This class will allow you to create numerous studies in the “field” en plein air one week, and then bring them back to the studio the following week to create a finished painting. We learn more by making small sketches and paintings, while observing color and values in the field, without the pressure of “finishing” a painting. You will then create a well-planned and thought out painting in the studio based on these studies, while learning about composition, values, color choices, brushstrokes, and the finishing touches both in the field and in the studio. All levels are welcome, but some knowledge of the painting process is necessary.
The class will be taught in oils; students proficient in acrylics, watercolor, and pastels are invited.
Instructor: Kathleen Denis
Thursdays, 8:30am-12pm; On location TBD - March 5, 19, April 2, 16; Gallery, Master Studio - March 12, 26, April 9, 23
