We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved Maria Tritico, Director of Education at the Lighthouse ArtCenter, lost her life to a stray bullet on December 6, 2020, while watching her fiancé play frisbee on the beach. Maria and her partner Chad had just purchased their first home, and they had planned to marry on New Year’s Eve.

Maria Tritico and Chad Steve are both deeply connected in the arts community. They met in Hawaii at UH Manoa. Maria was studying abroad for a semester, while Chad was working toward his MFA. After they finished school, they moved to Florida together.

A power couple with big dreams and the competence to accomplish them, Chad and Maria worked side-by-side at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta, Florida. Chad Steve is the Director of Ceramics at the Lighthouse ArtCenter and Maria was the Director of Education.  Maria was also a talented metalsmith with her own signature style, a dedicated art instructor, and a fearless art therapist.

Artists in the ceramics, metalsmithing, glass, and other art communities donated their original work to benefit Chad and assist him with the financial burden of his loss. The work shown here represents the giving spirit of artists whose lives have been impacted by Chad and Maria’s influence on our generous community. Maria's father, Chris Tritico, said it best - Maria was "bright shining light".  This sale is a reminder for us to continue to carry Maria's "light" with us each day.

The sale will be live January 8th-January 25th.
This is a virtual sale and the artwork shown here is donated by artists and craftspeople from all over.
The artists will ship their artwork once they have been notified of the sale by the Lighthouse ArtCenter.

Thank you for supporting this benefit.
