A life changing experience brought me to the Art of painting on Silk. Upon graduating from Ohio State University, in 1966. I spent three years as a US Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. Afterward I went to Java and studied Batik under Indonesia’s Master Batik Artist Bambang Oetoro. The opportunity to live and work with a master craftsmen quite literally opened me to my life passion, love of textile arts, and the connection of art in my spiritual direction. 35 years later, I am in my studio in Sarasota Florida preparing a major exhibition of Orchid paintings on silk. I still feel the same creative spirit in the world of silk today, and I am delighted to share this with you. Prior to moving to Sarasota I was a studio art director and artist working in New York City with two exceptional silk artists. Our commission works are displayed throughout the United States and Europe.
