Hibiscus Children's Center First Juried Traveling Art Show at
Lighthouse Center for the Arts
Tequesta, FL (March 5, 2008) The Hibiscus Children’s Center’s 1st Juried Art Show featuring
65 juried pieces of art makes its Palm Beach County debut on March 13 at the Lighthouse Center for the
Arts. This traveling
exhibition has been viewed in Vero Beach and Stuart before arriving in Tequesta. Over 170 artists submitted 652 entries
that were judged by Charles A. Stainback, the William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator
of Photography at the Norton Museum of Art.
The highlight of the event will be the special gallery talk hosted Mr. Stainback
on Saturday, March 15, from 2:30-4:30.
Just a few of the very talented artists exhibiting are:
Georgia Abood, Velia Bagnasco, Petey Cox, Christina De la Vega, Aida Fry, Dan Mallardi,
Sandra Odell, Roseanne Williams and Meg Winter.
Mediums include watercolor, etching, oil, cibachrome print, acrylic, photography,
porcelain and jewelry. The three top
winners were selected by Mr. Stainback and presented awards at the first reception
held in Stuart on February 13. The
winners for outstanding achievement are: 1st place: Sandra Bittinelli,
“Breaking Point”; 2nd place: Nathan Porterfield, “Chest”, and 3rd place:
Cynthia Gardner, “MacArthur Majesty”.
Hibiscus Children's Center provides services to children
and families to help repair and rebuild damaged lives and give them hope and the
resources they need to lead a brighter life.

This exhibition runs from March 13-29 with a reception on Thursday, March 13 from
5:30 pm-7:30 pm and the special gallery talk by Charles Stainback on Saturday,
March 15, from 2:30-4:30pm.
