Laurie Aguera-Arcas has been involved in art-making and teaching for more than 40 years, with a specialty in printmaking, drawing, and art history. Her undergraduate training began at Syracuse University School of Art, and continued at the University of Maryland. She received an MLA in art history from Johns Hopkins University, and earned the MLA award for her thesis on Winslow Homer. As a teacher and artist in Israel, Rhode Island, Mexico, Maryland, and Florida, Laurie integrates the aesthetic underpinnings of art with historical context, while developing students’ technical skills and encouraging them to find their personal vision.
