This year, we celebrated
our 40th Annual K-12 Community Student Exhibition, recognizing and awarding students
in our community for excellence in art. This provided an excellent opportunity for
students, instructors and peers to view the year's accomplishments.

Sculptural Retrospective by the John Soderberg Family

Internationally renowned
sculptor John Soderberg has created numerous monumental bronze commissions across
the country. He has invented tools, materials and techniques which have bettered
the world of art.
During this exhibition, sculptor John Soderberg was joined by his two daughters,
Heather and Misty, and his brother, David Soderberg.
The exhibition included a lecture by John Soderberg and a special Collector's Evening.

A new twist on traditional
quilting and pottery perspectives... Visitors experienced the unique fiber artwork of Jo-Ann
Golenia and Pat Kumicich, as well as one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces created by members
of the Ceramics League of the Palm Beaches. |
Contempo

Contempo
"pushed the limit on art" with a showcase of contemporary art of all media. This
show was juried by Nelson Hallonquist, Contemporary Art judge and co-director of
the Gavlak Gallery in Palm Beach. His discriminating eye currently places work on
the Gavlak Gallery wall, as well as larger exhibitions such as Art Basel Miami Beach.

Bra-Vo!
Artists designing bras
for the fight against breast cancer
January 7 - February 11, 2010

49 amazing "Art Bras"
created by local artists in the fight against breast cancer were on display in our
Museum. The bras were auctioned off at the conclusion of the exhibition during the
"Pink" Cocktail Party. A portion of proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.

functional works of art for this CHAIRitable exhibiton and auction. Divine, decadent
and delightful chairs designed by artists from the Seabranch Art League were auctioned
by Tim Luke, with all proceeds to benefit the Summer Camp Scholarship Program for

Kane Brewer, Pam Moody and Maya Schonenberger, including fiber works, ceramics and jewelry. Each artist interprets nature in Florida through their individualized twists

group exhibition spotlighted
the hidden talents of the staff of the Lighthouse
ArtCenter. The wide range of works included paintings,
ceramics and drawing, and showed the vitality and diversity of work as it flourishes

recording the spectacular landscape that drew people to Florida long ago and still
exists today, photographer Kevin Boldenow aims to capture the beauty, vitality
and necessity of our environment. |

Bell and the Peconic Bay Impressionists

Ms. Bell's early landscapes emphasize a
moody, misty atmosphere along the Peconic Bay. |
The ''Peconic Bay Impressionists'' were
a group of early-20th-century artists living along the North Fork on Long Island.
About half of the paintings on display were by Ms. Bell, who was both an extremely
capable landscape painter and a talented teacher. Works by her students and colleagues
made up the rest of this exhibition. |

Part II
"After Greenland (1935-1971): Paintings & Politics"

This exhibition included paintings and
prints from this period. The gallery also hosted several film screenings and lectures
on Rockwell Kent throughout the exhibition, providing visitors with a unique perspective
on Kent the artist. |
Carbonell
Modern master sculptor
January 8-31, 2009
 |
Eight foot towering bronze sculptures were
on display in contrast to delicate twelve-inch works of master sculptor, Manual
Carbonell.
After his exile from Cuba in 1959, Carbonell moved to the U.S., where he began experimenting
with his new freedom of expression and to search for the essence of the human form.
Carbonell's forms are romantic and unexaggerated, and convey a heroic aesthetic.
His work contains sensuous lines and a sensitive, balanced composition. He is indeed,
as cristics have acclaimed, one of the masters of sculpture of our time.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter's School of Art faculty

This group exhibition featured the diverse mix of techniques and approaches employed
by the remarkably talented artists that comprise our faculty. This enlightening
exhibition showcased a variety of media, including painting, drawing and ceramics
and gives insight into the expansive view of art in our community.

featured more than 100 works by Janeen Mason, renowned children's book author and

A photographic documentary on the homeless.

captured the human spirit and touched on the fabric of the lives of the homeless,
who, e.j. manton tried to capture in this photographic documentary.

Canstruction
Art as a catalyst for change, one can at a time.

An exhibition featuring
sculptures built entrirely out of ordinary cans of food.
This was all part of Canstruction, an annual design competition that resulted
in the donation of the cans to a local food bank. All cans were donated
to the Treasure Coast Food Bank.

place-winning photographs from all five categories.
Palm Beach Post readers
entered almost 4,000 photos in its fourth annual "Focus on Nature" photography contest,
which showcases the natural beauty of Florida in five categories: plants, landscapes,
animals, ocean and close-up. This exhibition featured beautiful images of our state,
as seen through the eyes of some very talented photographers.
