A Dog-Gone Art Show

The Lighthouse ArtCenter is hosting A Dog-Gone Art Show, an exhibition and auction to benefit
the Lighthouse ArtCenter and the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, a no-kill animal
shelter and clinic, saving the lives of thousands of animals in our community.

Multiple Sins
3rd Thursday Reception: Thursday, July 15
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Multiple Sins is open through Sept. 25, and in conjunction with the exhibition, the ArtCenter will host Barry Seidman, who will lecture on The Art and Magic of Still Photography during the museum’s 3rd Thursday event, scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 15.
Seidman will offer insights into his techniques and talk about “tricks of the trade” as he shows the audience how he uses illusion to create his trademark still-life photography.

Family Celebration of Children's Art and Illustration
Members of the Center and community guests are encouraged to bring children or grandchildren
to accompany them to this special art celebration where costumes and dress-up are
encouraged, but not required. The event previews the ArtAbound summer camp season
and provides a glimpse of exciting exhibitions to come this summer. The museum’s
current exhibition, the 40th Annual Kindergarten through 12th grade Student Show,
sets the evening’s festive family mood. Prizes for Best Costume will be awarded
for both adults and children. Ideas for costumes may be inspired from the Center’s
ArtAbound summer camp theme, “Once Upon a Paintbrush.” Guests are invited to dress
as their favorite story character from superhero, animal and ocean legends, magical
fairy tales and space adventures.

Faculty and guest artists went "live” and demonstrated the many mediums taught and exhibited at the School of Art and Museum. Guests tried their hand under the artists’ guidance in ceramics, painting, drawing, collage,

ceramics; Sean Kelley, airbrush; Norma Conway, portrait painting; Al Rowe, figure
drawing; Judy Flescher, collage and Ted Matz, Watercolor and Drawing Technique. |

Palm Beach Opera's Young Artists performed excerpts
from the upcoming production of Carmen. Rex Hearn, opera critic and founder

"Myth & Mystique of the Flute"
Featuring Sara Stout
Explore the myth and mystique of the flute with Sara Stout as she plays several
instruments, including Panpies, Native American Flute, Medicine Wind Flute, the
Shakuhachi and more. Guests learned about the demi-god Pan, and the Native American
petroglyph figure Kokopelli and how they influenced the flute and its music.
Ms. Stout is an adjunct professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University who has performed
in local professional ensembles and is founder and conductor of the Flutopia Flute
Choir.

Bill Holmesy, one of Palm Beach County's earliest surfboard manufacturers, shared
some of his experiences from the height of the surfing craze in
Palm Beach in the 1960s.
Tom Orlando, also a local surfboard shaper, discussed how he creates one-of-a-kind
surfboards using recycled wood. |

guest speaker Osvaldo Monzon, Deputy Director at the Elliott Museum and Guest Curator
of the "Xavier Cortada Reclamation Project", an Eco-Art Treasure Coast endeavour
through the Arts Council of Martin County. Mr. Monzon spoke about the launch of the Arts Council's two-year community education and ecoart apprenticeship
program, including the ecoart exhibition in collaboration with the South Florida
Environmental Art Project. |

A niche group of Impressionist painters

ten years in the making and included a 200-page hard cover catalogue, authored by
Mr. Wallace.
